Fond Olivier Debroise
Olivier Debroise (Jerusalem, 1952-Mexico City, 2008) was a writer, curator, critic and filmmaker key to the historiography of modern and contemporary art, photography and curatorship in Mexico. He was one of the founders of the cultural magazine and initiative Curare, espacio crítico para las artes. He produced outstanding exhibitions such as “Modernity and Modernization in Mexican Art, 1920-1960” at the National Museum of Art (1991-1992) and “The Age of Discrepancy: Art and Visual Culture in Mexico, 1968-1997” at the University Museum of Sciences and Arts (2007). Commissioned to review the MUCA collection, he was part of the team that conceived the University Museum of Contemporary Art. The collection is made up of exhibition catalogs, slides, newspaper cuttings, drafts of critical texts and novels, correspondence, interviews, videos of artists and films.
