Autorretrato I
Ricardo Nicolayevsky
Self-Portrait 1 Trained in film and working as a composer, Nicolayevsky captures the culture of personal bonds and his generational subculture in the series Lost Portraits. Produced in the 1980s in New York and Mexico City, the series gathers portraits of the artist and his friends in different contexts.

Autorretrato 1 is a snapshot of the artist’s intimacy, a pagan ecology of pleasure and excess that led to experimentation with home-developed film. The ensuing “accidents” yield textures evocative of experimental cinema.
