She was particularly fascinated by the rock slabs used in workshops as a base to cut marble and fine stone; these slabs end up etched by the blade of the diamond saw, suggesting a random drawing. Based on these marks, Krauze produces “imprints” in the form of frottages on those surfaces, capturing the memory of artisanal labor. The series Construcción is among the hybrid pieces—sculpture meets painting meets collector’s-cabinet—with which Krauze archives her explorations and compilations.
