Érase una vez un tren
Sarah Minter
Once Upon a Time There Was a Train In the late 1980s and early ’90s, Minter’s work explored the Mexico City punk scene. Almost 30 years after making the films Nadie es inocente [No One Is Innocent, 1985–1987] and Alma punk [Punk Soul, 1991–1992], she uses scenes from earlier works to make a short film focused on train travel.

This act of recycling, now presented in a two-channel format, follows two young people through both urban and natural landscapes. Edited to mimic the dizzying rhythm of the train itself, Minter creates bursts of experience emanating from marginal areas and agents of Mexican reality.
