Influences
Gabriel de la Mora
In 2007, De la Mora began the series Papeles quemados [Burned Papers] by setting his master’s thesis on fire. Influences is part of this series. In a single entropic gesture of destruction as creation, De la Mora transforms the paper’s two-dimensional surface into a three-dimensional sculptural object.

Gabriel de la Mora’s artistic work involves practices based on the passing of time, meticulous material experimentation, and a constant dialogue with the history of post-minimalism and Latin American abstract art. Pieces like Influences mark a watershed in his career, inaugurating an exploration of the relationship between image and the monochrome that would permeate much of his later work.
