Ben Vautier. Death Isn’t Real
Polyhedric, intense, tireless and tenacious, Ben Vautier has built up an overflowing body of work that fuses art and life over key decades of recent history, always anticipating the trends that followed him. The exhibition and the publication that accompanies it present a tour through Ben’s work, which has been expressed in many formats: action, nearly invisible, as the slightest gesture possible that bears meaning; textual works featuring his instantly-recognizable white cursive handwriting on a black background; and sculptural works, frequently the product of assemblages of varied objects.

This folio also includes contributions from Ferran Barenblit and Anna Dezeuze that allow us to understand Ben’s attitudes and ways of operating on a deeper level, going back to the earliest years of his career. Finally, through a series of texts written by the artist himself, it becomes clear that Ben’s greatest artwork is Ben himself: an unstoppable machine analyzing and questioning the complex reality with which we must negotiate each day.
