Gala Porras-Kim
Between Lapses of Histories
Gala Porras-Kim explores cultural artifacts and their relationship with their original functions, reflecting on the way in which objects are inserted into museums and heritage institutions and subjected to cataloging and conservation systems. Institutions thus participate in defining and signifying the object.

In the exhibition Gala Porras-Kim: Between Lapses of Histories and the Folio that accompanies it, the artist addresses museological and epistemological frameworks and the legal structures for cultural artifacts. Restitution questions the consequences of the extraction of an object that possessed a specific function in the place it had been deposited and the implications of this loss.
