This book presents a selection of works from the contemporary art collection of the MUAC. We here emphasize more recent acquisitions and a few works that have been placed on long-term loan. It also includes some of the highlights from earlier phases of the collection’s history.
We avoided organizing the entries alphabetically or chronologically, as is typically done when presenting these collections to the public. Instead, in selecting and organizing the works we preferred an associative “curatorial game” more intuitive than philosophical. This somewhat arbitrary presentation does not elude ruptures or confrontations, though it does attempt to create a flow, a narrative continuum of sorts in which one work leads to the next. At the end of this volume, we include a complete listing, organized alphabetically by author, of the works that are part of the muac collection as we go to press in January 2008.
