Oscar Masotta
Theory as Action reconstructs the intellectual journey of this important thinker, critic and artist (Buenos Aires, 1930–Barcelona, 1979). The exhibition plumbs his multiple and mobile theoretical interests in a heterodox perspective on his work, bridging existentialism, Marxism, semiology and structuralism, among other paradigms. Featuring documentary material and artistic works alongside some current legacies of his practice, the exhibition seeks to bring together constellations of readings, interventions and fields of influence. At the same time, it inquires into his inheritance in the present day through one of his work’s key concepts: the theoretical exercise as a form of (political) action.
