Art and Sound in the MUAC Collections proposes a reading of artistic archives, document registries, and associated collections in which sound acts as an important connecting element. The exhibition is organized around various perspectives and platforms that invite us to rethink the boundaries of art, and it seeks to promote sound’s importance in contemporary artistic practices, especially on the Mexican scene.

The selection includes pieces-turned-instruments, sound installations, musical instruments appropriated as artistic objects, and works in which sound is formulated through a language, whether through code or voice, that enunciates memory or engages in social and political protest. The aural universe includes the dimensions of sound and silence; the latter is represented by two-dimensional works like oil paintings, drawings and photos, silent media of audible expression that evoke music in the way of a tribute.
