Teatro Ojo
At Night, Lighting
Gazing upon the catastrophe with nothing to say in response to it, the local configuration of our public sphere unfolds as if we were in isolation. The normalized circulation of images of violence, their saturation is such that they no longer ignite anything, nor even open any eyes. Far from creating a space to produce collective thought, they are subordinated to the effects of that same violence.
As part of Draft, an initiative for exploring the critical possibilities of contemporary public art, the project At Night, Lightning—designed from three different cities: Zürich, Mumbai and Mexico City—tasked itself with looking for order, direction and meaning by publicly circulating a series of images that continue to tremble, montages that appear in the form of flashes of light to establish new relationships in their effects.
