Blockbuster
Blockbuster. Cinema for exhibitions researches in what way a series of important contemporary artists, that work with cinema and video, have been affected and have redeployed their own work due to specific aspects that lie in the work of the great directors of the twentieth century.
The exhibition intends to recreate the cinematographic experience for the audience, as well as to support the main cinema sources that have served as an inspiration in the development of the works by each of the video artists.
A key point in the curatorial thesis will be the presentation of a film series composed of the cinematographic references of the artists, in this way, the exposition will have two integral parts: the film series and a video art program.
Each of the artists was asked to select a cinematographic piece to accompany a work of their own. In some cases the selected tapes are clearly a direct inspiration or the starting point of their research, in others one can find a more generalized association, a shared sensibility or maybe even an antagonized relationship in means of the exploration of the image in movement and its potential.
